Meet the Team
Brian Bax, our Technical Manager, has had 38 years' experience with classic vehicles, initially with classic and custom motorcycles, before moving on to cars in the late 80's. He is qualified to work in wood and metal, as well as all the mechanicals from the ground up. He first joined the company in 1989 and as he can't keep away he has returned for a second round. Brian likes tackling unusual and difficult problems, like the unusual classic boat engine that he is working on at the moment or converting a mini to a super-charger - basically anything that stretches his grey matter. He has owned his own classic vehicles for many years, starting with classic motorcycles. He has been progressively restoring and improving a beautiful MG TC for the last 13 years, taking it from a modest 1250cc to 1643cc. Matt Ridgway, our Workshop Manager and Chief Machinist came to us from Ivan Dutton 10 years ago. He brought his wealth of Bugatti experience with him and now tackles a wide variety of projects. He supports the rest of the team with his machining skills as he is a fully qualified tool maker - making new parts when originals have completely perished and are impossible to replace. However, his real passion is owning a complete project from start to finish as variety is the spice of life! He takes this philosophy to heart - spending his weekends building a 1955 Mark 1 Ford Consul, turning it into a four wheel drive 400 bhp Cosworth powered monster!

Bill Carter, our Senior Technician, has worked in the motor trade for 42 years, including main dealerships at Ford, Vauxhall and Toyota. He moved to Tim Walker Restorations 12 years ago, as he loved the purity of working on older cars that reply on good old fashioned engineering rather than computer technology. He gets involved in all the mechanical aspects of restoration, from differentials and gear boxes to complete engines. He is also a qualified auto-electrician and can turn his hand to electronic engine tuning, as well as welding and fabrication - making it easy for him to manage your projects from the ground up.

Steve Hallsworth started his career as a restoration technician for a disaster recovery company, rebuilding industrial machines and electric motors after fire and flood damage. After a second career in the building and landscaping world he has come back to his first love of restoring historic machines. He has been with Tim Walker's since December 2010 and his main skills lie in building and restoring the different parts of a car. He supports others in their restoration projects, taking engines and gear boxes out and being a second pair of hands when he's needed. He enjoys the range of interesting work that passes across his bench every week and the freedom to manage his own work as part of a tightly knit team.

Toby Proctor was trained as an engine builder with Rune Field Motorsport, building short motors for FIA top fuel dragsters. He has been involved with dragsters for four years and is still actively involved at the weekends and holidays. He has also spent time managing agricultural machinery and coaxing more work out of old and stubborn engines. He has been at Tim Walker's since December 2010. His passion is working with old machines and bringing them back to life. He gets involved with all things mechanical and is happy to take on anything. He loves the daily challenges provided by vintage car restoration and working as part of a successful team.

Annie Broome keeps us all in line. She has had a long partnership with the Walker family as she helped nurse Tim's mother-in-law over 30 years ago! Nursing is Annie's first calling, but she makes a fantastic office manager and financial controller. She started helping with the books from home 23 years ago, but now spends at couple of days a week keeping a tight rein on the accounts and giving Guy time to expand the business.
