CBQC - What's it all about?

The launch in 1999 of The Classic British Quality Charter (CBQC) signalled good news for historic and classic car owners.  Until then the search for qualified specialists in old car restoration, maintenance, repair or parts (re)-manufacture led owners into a potential minefield.  While thousands of small British business claimed expertise in this area, the lack of a quality control system for the industry made it impossible for owners to know if they were entrusting their prized possession - and money - to a reputable company.  With an every-growing list of quality specialist members, The Classic British Quality Charter now addresses this problem.

How does CBQC work?

CBQC puts businesses through a rigorous inspection process by professional inspectors experienced in the restoration of historic and classic cars, with only those meeting strict quality and care criteria being accepted for membership.  Owners who take their cherished machines to a CBQC member know they'll get value for money in a highly specialised and skilled industry, backed by training, experience and well-maintained equipment.

Recognition and backing

At its inception the Office of Fair Trading (OFT), the AA and RAC praised the scheme.  The initiative was further recognised with a prestigious award by Classic Cars magazine for the millennium year 2000.  Today CBQC is well on track towards recognition by the DTI and already enjoys endorsement of The Royal Automobile Club Motoring Committee and the Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs.
